Join us in shaping a more peaceful future through Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development!
The Ban Ki-moon Foundation, in partnership with Salzburg Global and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, invites you to the International Forum on Global Citizenship Education, Partnerships and Peace on Wednesday, 4 November 2026 at Schloss Leopoldskron (Salzburg, Austria).
The Forum convenes government officials, civil society actors, formal and non-formal educators, youth, and business leaders to explore how Global Citizenship Education (GCED/SDG 4.7) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD/SDG 4.7) can serve as critical levers for peacebuilding and global solidarity in times of growing global challenges.
The Forum aims to
- generate insights and recommendations to inform global consultation processes on the future of education beyond 2030, including those led by UNESCO,
- explore the education and peace nexus, examining how GCED and ESD can respond to growing fragmentation, polarization, and declining trust, while strengthening social cohesion and dialogue across diverse contexts,
- identify promising practices and opportunities for collaboration, showcasing initiatives, and connecting key stakeholders working across sectors, regions, and generations to advance education, peace, and sustainable development,
- strengthen partnerships for GCED and ESD across sectors, regions, and generations, contributing to more effective and coordinated action towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.7
Livestream: Available for those unable to attend in person; the link will be shared with registrants in advance.
The official program will start at 10:30 CET with registration beginning at 10:00 CET, and will end at 18:00 CET sharp.
